Bodywork Aftercare: What to Do After Your Session
A great bodywork session doesn't end when you leave the treatment room. What you do in the hours following can significantly impact how long the benefits last.
Hydration: The Most Important Step
Drink at least 16–24 ounces of room-temperature water immediately after. Herbal teas — chamomile, peppermint, or ginger — are excellent alternatives.
The First Two Hours
Treat the first two hours as a recovery window. Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, and high-stress environments.
Nutrition After Your Session
Opt for lean proteins, leafy greens, and complex carbs. Avoid heavy, greasy foods and excessive sugar.
Warm Bath or Shower
A warm bath 2–3 hours post-session can extend the relaxation. Adding Epsom salts supports muscle recovery.
Sleep
Quality sleep is when your body does its deepest repair. After bodywork, you may sleep more deeply. Capitalize on this.
When to Schedule Your Next Session
For general wellness, every 2–4 weeks is recommended. For chronic tension, start weekly then transition to bi-weekly.
